Trapped? Stuck? Overwhelmed?

Help for OverwhelmIt’s been some time since you have felt ‘right.’ This may show up as fear of the unknown, or you may have difficulty making decisions.

Always trying to be perfect by pretending everything is “fine” is a way of life. You worry no one else will understand or that you will be judged.

These experiences may be accompanied with other feelings such as anxiety, shame, guilt, or inferiority. Feeling trapped in your mind or current situation brings on hopelessness. Do you question how you will ever be able to live the life you have been hoping for and want?

You are the expert on your own life.

I respect your strength and bravery to consider what may be getting in the way of your goals. Together we can seek patterns that reveal unhelpful thinking. Once those have been determined, we can develop new ways of interacting with yourself and others.

Counseling Chicago

These new ways of thinking will allow you to explore if your past experiences are impacting your present. I will help you connect to what you truly value in your life and in your relationships.

You can expect that I will invite your honesty on how you are feeling in the therapeutic space, as well as confirm with you that I am understanding your unique and individual needs adequately. I have a passion for re-connecting you with hope for your present and your future, as I strive to create a space that offers you safety, collaboration, choice, trust, and empowerment. The therapeutic relationship is nurtured to create a partnership that facilitates understanding and validation.

I bring gentle and direct feedback with intention to help you grow and gain insight about your experiences, behaviors, and relationships. My style is genuine, empathetic, validating, and, at times, light-hearted and humorous.

Areas of Focus

Areas of Counseling FocusMy experience includes individual and family counseling. These include not-for-profit organizations, schools, residential, partial (PHP), and intensive outpatient (IOP) care settings for mood, anxiety, and eating disorder recovery.

I currently offer individual therapy for adolescents and adults. Some areas of treatment focus include:

I value making your therapeutic experience individualized to your needs. Care is informed by Solution-Focused and Strengths-Based Therapy. Additionally, I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

A Bit About Me

I recognize that it takes bravery to share your story, so here are a few pieces of my own story:

  • Winston, my Goldendoodle, looks like a big teddy bear. I helped him become a Certified Therapy and Crisis Dog because he is great at cuddling, comforting, and being playful when myself and others need it.
  • My undergraduate minor is in history. I have always been fascinated by understanding people and how we can learn from past events. Recently, I visited the National WWII Museum in New Orleans and I have been to The Field Museum in Chicago several times!
  • I enjoy going to comedy shows and watching comedic TV shows, many of which I can quote pretty well, if I do say so myself! I think humor and laughter can be so freeing and remind us that it’s okay to have fun.

Qualifications and Certifications

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Illinois. I obtained my master’s degree in Social Work from Loyola University Chicago in 2014. Additional professional experiences and training include:

  • Trauma-Informed Care
  • Illinois Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Crisis Intervention and Advocate
  • Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT)
